The post office in Brazil is called the correio. The branches are called agências and are generally open between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm Monday through Friday, and on Saturday mornings. Post offices are found in most residential neighborhoods, major cities, and shopping centers.

When mailing internationally there are no time guarantees when using the regular mail system.

When  mailing a package from Brazil to a foreign destination using the regular mail, put the items to go in a box and take paper and string to the post office. DON'T WRAP the package as the postal officials will open it.

If you send a package to Brazil however, it should be carefully wrapped to insure it will arrive safely.

SEDEX is the domestic Brazilian express mail, equivalent to the U.S. Federal Express or DHL. SEDEX is available at all Brazilian post offices. The service provides reliable 1-2 day delivery.
