  • The Prospects for Rehabilitation of Degraded and Abandoned Pasturelands in the Brazilian Amazon

    By request of Brazilian congressmen, this lecture was presented to the Câmara dos Deputados (Brazil's House of Deputies) in Brasilia, on August 16, 2000.

  • Training in weather station maintenance and calibration, data quality control and neutron probe compliance was provided for EMBRAPA technicians.
  • Training in field methods

    Training in field methods was provided for EMBRAPA researchers and INPA Masters students which included:

    • root distribution and biomass estimates in agroforestry systems;
    • LAI (canopy analyzer) and soil water dynamics (neutron probe and TRIME TDR);
    • methods to estimate microbial biomass in soils;
    • methods to quantify mycorrhizal infection;
    • nodulation of pasture and agroforestry species.
  • Terrestrial Ecosystem Course

    This short course was taught to 15 Masters students at INPA.

  • The Potential of Agroforestry Systems for the rehabilitation of abandoned pasture lands in the Brazilian Amazon

    Lecture taught by Erick Fernandes at the Brazilian and Latin American Agroforestry Congress held in Manaus.
