Activity Description

On-Site Training of South American Participants

2002  

  • TG-05 supports two student stipends under the direction of Prof. Carlos Alberto Schenato at the Lutheran University of Brazil (ULBRA) in Santarém and Raimundo Cosme (EMBRAPA - Amazônia Oriental) for development of surface hydrologic and biogeochemical transport studies in watersheds of Rio Moju, Curua-Una, Rio Tatui, and Rio Curua do Sul.

  • Artaxo's two students, Aline Sarmento Procópio and Luciana Varanda Rizzo have been involved in all aspects of the project in Brazil, including setting up the equipment in the aircraft, debugging equipment problems, communication with the airplane pilots, and logistics. Mike Hahn (NOAA/CMDL) visited them in Brazil for training.

    Lecture presented by Christopher Potter (NASA/ARC) for students and local scientific community at the Federal University of Pará (UFPa)in Santarém, Pará.

  • Stream/river sampling protocols for the Tapajós area drainage

    Short training sessions lead by Marc Kramer (NASA/UCSC), Raimundo Cosme de Oliveira Jr. (EMBRAPA Amazônia Oriental) and Christopher Potter (NASA/ARC) at the LBA Training and Educational Sector in Santarém, Pará.

  • Studies of Carbon Cycling in the Amazon Region

    Lecture presented by Christopher Potter (NASA/ARC) to LBA technicians and students with participation of students from local universities in Santarém, Pará. The event was held at the LBA Training and Education Setor, in Santarém, Pará.
