Two students will receive training under this proposal. One is a Brazilian student, Rafael Rosolem, who will be based at the University of Arizona and whose doctoral program will be based around Tasks 1 and 3 of this project (Improve the performance of selected LSMs, including SiB2 and SSiB, which are widely used in Brazil; CLM, widely used in global climate studies; and NOAH, widely used in regional models). The second is an Ecuadorian student, Enrique Rosero, who will be based at Utah State and whose doctoral program will be based around Task 2 of this project (Investigate site-to-site differences in LSM parameters and the value of remote sensing data in understanding these differences). It is envisioned that, as part of their training, each of these students will spend some time at both universities, at NASA-GSFC, and at CPTEC
