On-Site Training of South American Participants

2002  

  • Marcia Yamasoe - Postdoc GEPA - Instituto de Física at University of São Paulo: TG-03 provided partial support for this position . Marcia Yamasoe has defended her PhD Thesis mostly with data collected by this project. Her PhD Thesis at the University of São Paulo analyzed the time series of the aerosol optical thickness for the several sites supported by this grant. She modeled the radiative effect using the SBDART model, with the help of NASA Goddard scientists.

  • Rosivaldo Lelis da Silva and Fabricio Berton Zanchi (Ji Paraná, University of Rondonia) have been accepted as Masters candidates in association with USP. Rosivaldo and Fabricio are seeking scholarships at USP and INPE. They have worked with the data obtained in Rondonia, and were well trained in radiation measurements and techniques.

  • Aline Sarmento, a PhD student with a FAPESP scholarship under the guidance of Paulo Artaxo, is working directly with the sun-photometer network and radiances measurements in order to assess direct and indirect radiative forcing effects. She is also working with MODIS data, in addition to models for radiative transfer.

  • Aline Procopio, student of Paulo Artaxo, is acting liaison for site activity coordination.
