    This team gave a number of interviews about the project and its contribution to monitoring logging activities in eastern Amazon.

    Data, experiences and results were exchanged on Forestry and remote sensing methodologies

2001  

  • Measurements Used for Estimating Forest Canopy Damage

    On-site training was provided for students and technicians of FICAP, Tropical Forest Foundation, foresters and members of local community. It was held at the Tropical Forest Foundation Facility and CIKEL-Verde, Fazenda Cauaxi, Pará, Brazil, in July 2000 and June 2001.

  • Training in GPS

    Training on the theory, use and limitations of global positioning system (GPS) technology for forestry and land management applications was provided for foresters and students at the Tropical Forest Foundation facility, Fazenda Cauaxi, Pará, Brazil.

    Training involved a 3-hour class with 3 hours of field experience. Activities were filmed for future additional use.

  • Satellite Remote Sensing for Forestry and Selective Logging Applications

    A series of lectures on the role and limitations of satellite remote sensing for forestry and selective logging applications was presented at the Tropical Forest Foundation Facility, Fazenda Cauaxi, Pará, in July 2000 and June 2001.

  • Remote Sensing of Selective Logging.

    A series of lectures on remote sensing applications for selective logging was presented at EMBRAPA and IPAM by Dr. Asner (Stanford University).
