Dataset Abstract:

Eddy covariance data collected in Sinop site and other soil and plant measurements. Incident photosynthetic photon flux density (Q) was measured above the canopy (40 m above ground level) using a quantum sensor (LI-190SB, LI-COR, Lincoln, NE, USA). Air temperature and vapor pressure were measured at the top of the tower using a relative humidity sensor (HMP-35, Vaisala, Inc., Helsinki, Finland). Vapor pressure deficit (V) was calculated as the difference between saturation vapor pressure and actual vapor pressure from temperature and humidity measurements made at the top of the tower. Precipitation was measured above the canopy using a tipping-bucket rainfall gauge (2501, Sierra-Misco, Inc., Berkeley, CA). Instantaneous measurements of surface (0-30 cm) soil moisture were made adjacent to the tower using time-domain reflectometry (TDR) (Topp et al., 1984). TDR data were calibrated against gravimetric soil moisture measurements that were made periodically over the study period. Meteorological data were averaged over 30-minute intervals from observations made every 60 s and stored using a solid-state datalogger (CR-10, Campbell Scientific, Inc., Ogden, UT, USA). Data Quality Statement: The Data Center has determined that this data set has missing or incomplete data, metadata, or other documentation resulting in diminished usability of this product. User beware. Known Problems: This data collection represents a huge and diverse set of meteorological and ancillary data. Much of the metadata are in Portuguese, and little information is provided regarding the data formats, measurement units, and file organization. For these reasons, ORNL will not attempt to fully archive this data product and offer it for distribution. The ORNL DAAC has retained a backup copy of not only the Reduced Micromet data from Sinop, MT represented here, but also the entire collection of Priante data as it is currently available through the LBA DIS ftp site [as of December 2011].
