Dataset Abstract:

This data set includes: VA_FullRes.txt:</b> 844342 bytes Document : VADataDoc.pdf)
This is the original full vertical resolution Vaisala rawinsonde intercomparison data collected at the Abracos pasture site [10o 45' S, 62o 22'W, elevation 293m.]. This data was collected by the Brazilian WETAMC team [Gilberto Fisch (gfisch@iae.cta.br) and Maria Silva Dias (mafdsdia@usp.br ) ]. I have only added corrected surface Micromet data from MC_1min.txt, added useful derived thermodynamic data, and produced a second interpolated dataset. VA_TB_5&2mb.txt</b> 386399 bytes Vaisala rawinsonde interpolated to fixed pressure levels: 5 hPa to 100hPa and 2hPa above 100hPa. This data was used to intercompare with VIZ rawinsonde and TB data [see ftp://daac.ornl.gov/data/lba/physical_climate/Betts/ABRACOS_Pasture/merged_products/comp/ra_tbdatadoc.pdf] For both datasets, useful derived thermodynamic parameters have been added: potential temperature [è], mixing ratio [Q], equivalent potential temperature [èE] , saturation equivalent potential temperature [èES] and pressure height to lifting condensation level [PLCL] using the formulae given in Table 2, based on Bolton (Mon. Wea. Rev., 108, 1046-1053, 1980) and Betts (J. Atmos. Sci., 39, 1484-1505, 1982) Overview document LBABettsDatadoc.pdf
