Site Reconnaissance and Selection

DESCRIPTION

BigFoot reconnaissance trip - Visit the primary forest LBA site at Santarem (km 67), to prepare for future research to be done at the site. - Our planned activities include: - visit the tower site; - talk to scientists working at this site to learn about the several experiments being conducted there; - discuss with scientists working at the site how BigFoot can complement the existing measurements there; - explore the area surrounding the tower (BigFoot methodology requires data collection in an area of 5 x 5 km, with the tower at the center); - We are specially interested in LAI and biomass measurements (tree diameter, root biomass, etc.).
